Thursday was the canoe trip which I did not attend and thus have no pictures to share. This photo shows the camp line-up getting special dinner instructions from Chris Skater Files. Chris is the daughter of Carl and Juanita Slater, who been active in the Oglebay camping program for at least 4 decades. They still remain active in the program by serving on the Nature Committee.

Let's eat!

The traditional post canoe trip dinner is wings and other goodies and, weather permitting, everyone eats outside for a pic-nic style meal.

The Tiu Family of Wheeling. Strong supporters of the camping program.

Willa Diamond Altemus enjoy her ice cream dessert...

as does her little friend.

Everyone likes ice cream!

After a hard day of paddling and messy dinner of wing and ice cream some of the boy catch a cold water shower using some locally acquired garden supplies.

Jonathan accepted the challenge and gets a good soaking in the icy well water.

Blake tries drying out his swim suit - the hard way.

New friends spend a quiet moment together.

Friday morning was the Polar Bear swim. A 6AM dip in the pool. Only a hearty took the plunge.

Brrrr...!

The Wimps who watched!

This is not quite what it looks like. Head Cook Kim wanted to use her oatmeal paddle for a photo prop and almost whacked Dining Room Manager Ben in the head getting it out.

The hard working kitchen staff:

This photo shows all the Campers who had parent who went to Junior Nature Camp as well.
My apologies for the poor photo quality.

These are all the campers who have siblings at camp. Junior Nature Camp is a family affair!

The campers always want a "crazy" photo take along with the posed one.

At Friday's lunch Stephen Board won the nature quiz prize.

And Cherokee Unit one the coveted Golden Dustpan award for having the cleanest tents for the week. CONGRATS ladies!

Next years CIT candidates.

Jon and Jeff Altemus get some work done in the Winterized Lodge.

Don Altemus (left) visited camp to put on a water color session for the camp.

The camp group photo. Lots of groovy people!

Last Vespers for the week.

The last campfire of Week one was a good one. Lots of awards, stories and singing.

Basking in the glow of the campfire.

Just as I was leaving the campfire to attend to some (always) unfinished web work Counselor Erica McGrath got up to lead the camp in song.
Shortly thereafter I was off to my tent in the woods accompanied by the sweets sound from the campfire.
